Oh yeah, and just to clarify, we’re not covering minor instances of the ninja losing their powers. Like, yeah they were handcuffed with vengestone in season 6, but they got their powers back immediately after so... you get it. 🙏

Okay, so I think I've come up with a theory that may satisfy many people in the comments here:

Basically, what I think is that the ninja DID in fact inherit their elemental powers from their parents, and for Zane, from the elemtal master of ice.

However, when Lloyd was born, whenever that was, he basically took their powers, because, as we've seen, no two elemental masters can have the same power at once. Every elemental master could not use their powers after they passed them onto the next generation, their children. This would mean that Lloyd would have the powers of ice, fire, lightning, and earth, but because water is not an element of creation, that is excluded. The ninja would then meet master Wu, and the events Ninjago would continue. The ninja would be able to use their elemental powers with the help of the golden weapons, until season 3.

In the time that Lloyd had the ninjas' power, I believe the ninja had some sort of "tether" or assingment to their powers, marking them as the elemental masters of whatever element, yet not having the ability to control their element at will. The golden weapons could respond to this elemental assignment, and allow them to use their powers accordingly, as the golden weapons held the a form of golden power, which we know when split or channeled, can harness any given element.

During season 3, Lloyd would give up his possession of the elemental powers of ice, fire, lightning, and earth, to the respective ninja. As for Chen not needing to obtain the powers of destruction and creation, we can say that the 4 elements possessed by the ninja ARE creation when combined. Or, those elements don't matter for some reason.

As for Morro, rather than the elemental powers going away because of Lloyd not being able to control them, I think that Morro intentionally DISABLED the ninjas powers. This would also explain how, in season 8 and 9, the Ninja could use their powers without Lloyd having his.

Well that's my theory on the disability of using the elemental powers shown by the ninja.

So to sum it up: Pilots-season 2: The ninja were dependent on the golden weapons or elemental blades to use their powers. From season 3 their powers were dependent on Lloyd?

I came up with an explanation as to y they can't use them properly in Season 2

They all had elemental powers to begin with, but since they used the Golden Weapons they acted as a shortcut to using their powers and that was the only way they trained to use their powers, rather than to use them without the weapons. It explains y they still were powered up by them but could barely use them.
Then, when Lloyd gave up his Golden Power, he restored the Ninjas' full control over their elements, essentially making Lloyd their new Golden Weapon shortcut, except they're now dependant on him.
The more the Ninja and their powers grew they became more independant from Lloyd, hence y even with his powers gone in Season 9 they still had theirs.

i swear the ninja never use their powers in actual fights, like not even in fights against people that DONT have power... like for example in sons of garmadon zane could have kept on freezing Mr. E but he decided to use his power for 3 punches and thats all... Lloyd also never used his power in the very beginning of SOG for some reason

Anyone else notice that everytime jay is the focus the ninja don’t stay together the whole season like in season 6 some were captured by nadakhan in season 12 some of the ninja “died” in prime empire

The ninja are supposed to be 'elemental masters' yet they do very basic stuff with their elements. I mean being a master must have it's perks right? Kai shoots fire balls, Jay shoots lightning bolts, Nya waterbends and Lloyd shoots energy balls. I know it's easier to create simple elemental attacks rather than more complex ones, but they don't use anything really advanced. Itd be cool if we saw Kai or Cole or both control lava if not create it. Right now the ninja are almost like elemental amateurs.

Probably not important but, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO SENSEI GARMADON'S MONASTERY IN S3? Like, we only saw it for one episode and never saw it again. Of course, it's nothing major, but everyone and even Lloyd seems to have forgotten about it.

Basically the ninja had their power from the start but could not control it then they gave it up to Lloyd to become golden ninja and they got the elemental blades as compensation but had no powers themselves then in rebooted Lloyd gave back the actual powers to them.

Can u make a updated version of everyone's powers like garmadon like in season 9 and everyone else's like Lloyds power then he has another type of power the first spinjitzu master please and also like the forbidden scrolls please and please make it go up all the way to season 13! I think next season the ninja will have there season 11 suits with pirate gear on them and the villain will be nadakan hopefully kai and Zanes suit look better this season
