Swimming is a huge part of life in Australia – but what if you can’t swim?
In the Central Queensland mining town of Dysart, the public pool is bringing together long-time locals and those born a world away. High school teacher Adam Kelvin Mhende is swimming for the first time after moving to the town from Zimbabwe- facing his fears with the help of Dysart Swim Centre Manager, Millie. From athletes, to those who’ve never been in a pool before, a growing number of locals are taking to the water thanks to the town’s adult swim program.

I love the fact they are in shallow water when learning; need to see more of that

I’m just like Adam as well. I’m just learning to swim and I’m an adult but I’m learning.
