I saw this movie in a movie theater when it was first released. When the film was over and the credits were rolling you could hear a pin drop except for a few muffled sobs among the crowd. We all filed out to our cars in silence. I never forgot that. The film and the audience reaction haunted me for weeks and weeks after seeing it. Over the years I have re watched it on cable a few times and it still has the same chilling effect as it did seeing it the first time.
