Fruits Basket Prelude⎮Breakdown

In just over a month, Fruits Basket Prelude, a prequel that centres on Tohru Hondas parents will be released, and boy oh boy, are we excited. Today we're breaking down the manga plot that will be covered in the film, and our opinions and hopes for the future of Fruits Basket as an anime franchise.

I agree exactly with what you said about how you're glad that all parts of a big story are being adapted, but that it's being done separately. With the, uh, different relationship that Tohru's parents have, I can see that being a negative focal point that I'm glad wasn't brought to the main show. It was hard enough for me with Kureno and Uotani (but I at least had my way of dealing with it by saying Kureno was locked up, manipulated, and perhaps still in a younger state of mind and emotionally? Hopefully? And Uotani getting ready to graduate high school and having already seen some more mature things in life. Though I still believe that plot aged badly as well).

But hell yes, I am so excited for some epilogue content because I've been craving Kyo and Tohru wholesomeness. And I too would love a short 12 ep season of Fruits Basket Another, because I miss the characters and would love to see the development of Akito after the original show's end as we didn't really get to see what her personality would be like with a changed mindset.

At first when I saw the parts cut out in the manga some part of me thought "welll dang they cut out so much" but recently after seeing how people reacted to the trailer it was only then I thought it was a smart choice to cut out kyoko's backstory since the backstory alone could be the defining moment for season 3. However hopefully they also include other parts they had cut out from the manga too I'd really like to see some of the stuff cut from the mainstory since some of them do seem important to cover.

And then toru's best friend Yankee (who is also the same as her mom), tries to date an older man. I don't think he was a teacher tho. Can't remember, but He's the rooster guy and she is like 15 and he is in his 30's. Still gross
