I first heard this song when i was making the hour drive back and forth to my dad's. He was dying of pancreatic cancer at 65. He had a late stage diagnosis and lived about a year, and decided he didn't want to die in a hospital. He spent his last week and a half at home in his own bed, unconscious for most of it. My drive was to go sit by his bedside. This was particularly appropriate and always reminds me of him in a bittersweet way.

Shires words shine through a tarnished world with unvarnished emotion...raw and real. Bravo👏

I lost my dad on May 3rd and when I first (and still do) just cried. I miss him every day.

This song should be preceded with a warning. I was driving the first time I heard it. Tears, boogers, everything.. I had to pull over for a bit. It still gets to me, almost the same experience with my dad (diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer w/ 3 months to live).

My Diddy is dying of Pancreatic Cancer. This has been so hard for me. I heard this song recently and it couldn't have portrayed our relationship any better. Except he his keeps Marlboro lights in his shirt pocket. I can't thank you enough for this song. The end is nearing for us. Thank you Amanda!

I have heard this song before, but it hit me hard tonight. I lost my Father in 2010 to Pancreatic Cancer. I got a phone call at work 2 weeks before his death. isn't well. It doesn't look good. Caught the first flight out. I was prepared to stay there as long as it took to care for him. He never made it home out of hospice, even thought he would have preferred to go at home. I have so many regrets. And I think that is part of why this song speaks so much to me. Listen to the love and communication between the father and daughter. That connection. I did have a connection with my dad, but I was a very guarded person. Things I wish we had experienced didn't happen. And those things are my fault. He tried. I was scared. It is hard and unfortunate when you realize too late that you wasted that time. I like that in this song, they take that time!

I’m a sucker for a Daddy song bc mine was so awesome. He went “up in smoke” too and we had a similar conversation. Treasured Father and final moments captured well by The Highwomen. No regrets

Waste of Brandi's talents and nothing special here. A couple of lively ones, but some of these gals - like here, aren't up to it. Title song and Brandi's 'Wheels of Laredo' best.
