Sadly a lot of Indian men today haven't continued the tradition. We had a deep bodybuilding culture in the past that's finally coming back to life nowadays.

"Always try to coax & not force your muscles to grow"
"A few repetitions correctly performed is of more benefit than any number done in a clumsy way"
Love these bits of wisdom.
Looking forward to the posing video, your previous how to pose videos were already great & controlling the muscles & posing is really something us naturals need to learn more.

Interesting fact is Bishnu Ghosh was simultaneously training in yoga and became quite an advanced master in the practice.

A secret advantage Indian bodybuilders have is yoga, those poses build great mind body connection, stimulate nerve growth, and blood vessel growth. Specifically learning a handstand made my back muscles explode, it's a whole different burn

This is great stuff. Keep this old physical culture thing going. It's rare that you see people talk about it on youtube.

Their physique would make a bit more sense when you get to know some of the history of the region. Wrestling gyms called Akhara were all over the country and discipline in diet and lifestyle was well practiced. Having big bulky wrestler physique was appreciated. So the transition to bodybuilding from a wrestling culture may not have felt that new. Nonetheless, these guys must've been very competent, dedicated and hard working on their craft. Some of them are just unbelievable. So cool.

These guys looked insane 💪 The irony is they would probably be accused of gear today 😂

These authors and bodybuilders are so clear minding in their writing even as a second language at the time of the century. It's kinda amazing to see all that's possible with the mind and body of we have discipline.

The squatting on the toes was actually very common among Indian strongmen and wrestlers, I’ve seen it referred too as a “Hindu Squat” and I’ve personally gotten a lot out of it, you obviously can’t overload it as much as a regular back squat but the Hindu Squat allows for a deeper knee bend and engages the calf/foot/Achilles tendon more. Great exercise imo but def not a wholesale replacement for the back squat.

My uncle from India looked like these guys, he always said I never used steroids, I was like how??
He was working in a factory and basically a machine part flew off hit him in the chest. And the doctor said if it wasn't for the muscles on his chest he would of been dead!!
But he was huge everyone thought he was on steroids but he was in his mid 80s when he passed, but he said eating sleeping and staying away from drugs.
Also he always said if you do something do it properly if you can't then don't bother and get professional.
The mind set was different back then

My dad has some crazy stories of his Indian step-dad, one of them being how he picked a guy up by a single leg of a chair and threw him out of a bar, (he was the bouncer). I can't even pick up a chair by itself from 1 leg of it, so I can't imagine how he did it with a guy sitting in the chair. Another story being how he was angry one time and took an axe and threw it impossibly far, like it just kept going. Maybe the stories are exaggerated but he swears the guy was special. Said he didn't know a single person who could out run him, out bike him, there was nobody that could catch up to the guy.

A quick tip...m an Indian and that B C Ghosh is the great Bishnu Charan Ghosh..who is the brother of the author of the great Yogi and author of "Autobiography of a Yogi" that book which is popular in whole world. They used some concentration yogic breathing in their exercise.. the most important equipment in their routine was breath..the prana..the vital life force..now which is totally forgotten in modern gym culture

Wow now I know how my grand father did it. He passed away before I was born and my dad always spoke about how jacked he was. Old timer won a local boxing tournament in 1949 and was allegedly the most jacked guy in his weight class.

As a former wrestler, the bridge position is actually a very effective neck exercise! There’s a reason why we still do it daily before practice. Adding rotating your neck to different angles, then spinning your body 180 degrees. Then repeating neck rotation while facing downwards, with hands behind your back. Adding weights to this would be insane.

Apart from all this Technicalities the most important thing is Pavanputra Hanumanji & his influence on the Indian Subcontinents fitness culture

Fun fact. One of the authors of the book, B.C. Ghosh was brother of Pramahansa Yogananda, a renowned Yogi and philosopher of India. His book "Autobiography of a Yogi" is still read by a lot of people. Ghosh himself was a practicing Hatayogi.

I'm proud and fortunate enough to be born in a country where these men belong who were way ahead of their time... Thank you brother for bringing out such a vintage and precious content. Please make videos on "Manohar Aich" and "Gama the Wrestler". Love and respect from India 🇮🇳🙏💪

Love your content man. Us south Asians don’t get a lot of coverage when it comes bodybuilding. This was definitely an eye opener!

8th exercise is fire. I was doing this since primary school in Poland. We had great PE teacher mad about gymnastics, kettle bells and also weights. I was doing this version, but also one with lying on flat bench where you grab barbell with under grip and slightly bent elbows. Then you just use your shoulders to bring it behind your head as far and low as possible. I am doing this until now and it's just amazing.
