Babolat Pure Aero 98 Global Tennis Racquet Review: the most surgical member of the Pure Aero family!

Babolat adds another chapter to the most controlled and surgical member of the Pure Aero family. Formerly called the Pure Aero VS, the Pure Aero 98 gives big hitters a powerfully precise weapon. Compared to the standard Pure Aero, this racquet features a more compact head along with a denser string pattern and a thinner, more flexible beam. The payoff is extra control, which comes in handy on bigger cuts or when targeting the lines. That said, this stick still packs enough pop to put your opponent in check. For 2023 Babolat adds NF² Technology which uses flax inserts at 3/9 in the head to soften ball impact. Babolat also updates its FSI Spin technology with slightly tighter string spacing. The result is greater control (and confidence) when maximizing stroke speed in the service of power and spin. With some nice updates to the response, the Pure Aero 98 delivers the spin and power of a modern player's racquet but with the control and feel needed to fully engage with your targets.

Everyone, stop asking how they compare to different racquets and try them yourselves. I am saying this in the nicest way possible! Just because one person feels something with a racquet doesn’t mean you’ll feel the same way. In the end, you have to try whatever racquets you’re interested in and make the judgement for yourselves.

Chris, we share similarities in choice of racquets. Which one would you pick if you had to choose: Ezone 98, new VCORE 98, or this PA 98? Thanks!

Hi, I used to play with the Wilson Blade 98 V7, which was a great match for me. But I'm looking for a new racquet with a bit more power, with less of the heavy, boardy feel of the Blade (my arm is getting a bit more tired now). I tried the new Pure Aero, and disliked it, too powerful and not enough control. I tried the Yonex Ezone 98, and liked it a lot. Where does this new PA 98 stand compare to the Ezone 98 ?
Thank you also for this great review, which makes me want to, and puts me a little in doubt :D

Compared to TXT Tour 100 310 2019? Coming around the same swingweight at 327, but I would like a little more closed string pattern and control.

great review! I will order some demo rackets from TW but have a hard time choosing. I'm currently playing with an old PS97 with some lead (the red ones) but want more easy spin and power to mostly help my game on the D.BH side. For easy depth and high launch- angle which two would you pick to demo: PA 98, Yonex ezone 98 or the Extreme tour? or would you go for a 100sq racket? Im a 5.0 attacking baseliner.

Something has gone wrong with Babolat.. I tried the recent Rafa Aero and it was terrible... It is also interesting there are huge numbers of second hand ones for sale!
