Lyrics in the description.

The victims we know so well
They shine in your eyes
When they kiss and tell
Strange places we never see
But you're always there
Like a ghost in my dream

And I keep on telling you
Please don't do the things you do
When you do those things
Pull my puppet strings
I have the strangest void for you

We love and we never tell
What places our hearts in the wishing well
Love leads us into the stream
And it's sink or swim
Like it's always been

And I keep on loving you
It's the only thing to do
When the angel sings
There are greater things
Can I give them all to you

Oh, hmm
Pull the strings of emotion
Take a ride into unknown pleasure
Feel like a child on a dark night
Wishing there was some kind of heaven
I could be warm with you smiling
Hold out your hand for a while
The victims we know them so well
So well

Ah, ah
Ah, ah
The victims we know so well
They shine in your eyes when they kiss and tell
Strange places we never see
But you're always there like a ghost in my dream
And I keep on telling you
Please don't do the things you do
When you do those things, pull my puppet strings
I have the strangest void for you

Show my heart some devotion
Push aside those that whisper never
Feel like a child on a dark night
Wishing we could spend it together
I could be warm with you smiling
Hold out your hand for a while
The victims we know them so well, so well

One example of why the 80s was the best decade for popular music. This is an amazing song.

One of the best album eras of all time "Colour By Numbers". Every single was a hit for Culture Club!

I only first heard this song about 8 years ago at a bar. I was awestruck with just how good it was. They dont play this song no way near enough on radio etc.

I got the cassette tape of this album ( colour by numbers) for Christmas when I was 11 years old. I played it so much, everyone in my family could sing along to every song on it. When my father bought it for me, he didn't realize that the cover photo was a guy in drag... LoL! This was the early 80s!!

An absolute masterpiece and yet in some way strangely underrated. I just wish they'd written more music like this. It's sui generis, a strange anomaly amidst the rest of their catalogue. Still, just grateful that it exists.

The closing track of the first _NOW That's What I Call Music_ compilation, released in November 1983. The liner notes read "Almost certain No. 1 by the time you have this LP." It peaked at No. 3.

I was lucky enough to see Culture Club in concert in the late 90's at the Universal Amphitheater just outside of Hollywood. Berlin opened for them. What a night!

Boy George was an inspiration for me during my teenage years. I struggled from the age of a toddler being transgender and not being able to express who I was.

This to me is their best ballad by far. It emotionally gets me everytime.

One of the best ballads ever. It’s up there with “Save the Best for last” by Vanessa
