When i was younger i had a Chappy 50cc 3speed manual (43kmh org so i got it to street legal here in Sweden.)
Really nice mopeds. taken that apart completely couple times. Bought mine in bad condition for 1000 Swedish kronor (around 100euro) back in the 90s.
Fixed bunch of stuff. got it to top condition. 3yr later i sold it, because i was offer alot of money for it, way more then i paid for it. i regret that i sold it today :/.
it had Yamaha DT50 70cc cylinder an cyl head, 20mm something intake and carb when i first got it, that cyl fit straight on, even if it's bigger on the outside.
i put back org Chappy 50cc cyl and stock carb 10mm. I wanted it as close to stock/org.
just a bigger intake on it from stock (Swedish law) 5.6mm to 16mm but still stock 10mm carb, for little more power and topspeed went to 50-52kmh.

Is it possible to swop from 3speed manual to 4speed manual gearbox without modification on the 50cc version?
I'm just curious.

Hi - I am not very familiar with the Yamaha Chappy's but I do remember when they were for sale new. I remember them as having a 2-speed automatic trans... was the 4-speed manual an option, or is this engine out of a different bike? I ride a 1980 Suzuki FZ50 (almost everyday) and recently put a "big bore kit" (60cc) on it. It made a noticeable but not major difference. What made a bigger difference was (I am a Mechanical Engineer) opening up the clutch pack and changing 1) the initial engage rpm - it now revs about 20% higher before you make any forward motion, and 2) the shift point (it now shifts into 2nd at about 18 mph, before was ~14 mph). In both cases the engine is making more power when the power is applied. It could be better still, but this did make a significant improvement... Like the channel - Thanks for Posting!

I was thinking about a 16 tooth front sprocket on my Honda trail 110, hoping to get around 50 mph

Good afternoon sir hope you’re staying safe and healthy, bad ass little chappy I used to have one the same color but mine wasn’t a manual but automatic model. I have a 1979 Honda express 2 that I just got done cleaning out the carb and I added the new needle and clip but I have a crank and no start condition, she has spark and fuel but I think I’ll be checking for compression. Is there anything else that I should look out for? I might also check the reeds to see if they’re bad and I’m going to order the crank seals from Treatland and hope for the best thanks for the video stay well and ride safe.
