does it matter if I start my seeds indoors in trays or direct sew them in the ground?

this year in the garden with brand new soil and compost, we can put this theory to the test. Im starting half the seeds indoors in my seed trays and the other half will be direct sew out in the garden.

What do you think will end up yielding better results?? Stay tuned!

My money is on the direct sow, I also believe they're gonna be more robust. Just throwing that out there. Good work Tofer.

We had tomatoes get well over 8 feet tall. We had 6 foot cattle panel cages and they went up and over those and darn near down to the ground again.

I think it’ll be about the same if there’s nothing like weather or soil quality getting in the way

We grew a garden all my growing up life. Direct sow, water, and a little fertilizer. Not complicated.

I'm going to say the seeds started inside will come up first because you got to wait to your ground outside gets warm enough for the state to even start germinating but the seat outside will probably be tougher and grow more I think

My grandparents always just played in the ground and 8 feet tall for tomatoes was typical. I only start my herbs and a few other things. Most just go in the ground.

For me, cucumbers and zucchini do better when I direct sow them. Tomatoes always seem to do better with an extra month or two inside before the last frost.

Starting them indoors will always lead to better survival rates, how good is that? Meh, who's to say, surely not me. I feel like starting them in trays gives them all optimal conditions for survival, even the weaklings. I like to start them out in the garden so the weaker genetics get culled. I'm also don't have a garden every year, specially not in the last few years.

My vote is that the inground starting will be just as effective as thestarters inside

I live in Indiana and I always just put everything in the ground. The only thing I get at my local farmer is onion starts. 🇺🇸🙏🏻🥕

Well, they say that there’s an ideal window for maximizing optimal seed starting benefits while reducing shock-I’m sure that point is different for every plant

I find that starting in trays yield higher numbers initially. Planting straight in the ground, only the best seeds will survive. Personally, I enjoy planting a bunch of seeds and seeing what grows.

Wasn't expecting a gardening video from you. But I'm not surprised. Some tech ppl do have a green thumb.

When you bring in new soil, do you ever have issues with those little gnat things?
