On loan from the Smithsonian in Washington D.C., the I & I Museum in Penfield, Illinois hosts the oldest tractor in the world, the Hart-Parr Number 3.

Graduates of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Charles Hart and Charles Parr formed the Hart-Parr company in Charles City, Iowa. The Number 3 is the oldest surviving internal combustion engine tractor. The serial number is 1207 and the model number is 17-30, which means it has 17 horsepower at the drawbar and 30 at the belt.

Hart-Parr company also coined the word "tractor" by combining the words tractor and power.

After the Hart-Parr company was absorbed by the Oliver Tractor Corporation. Oliver bought back the Number 3 from its original owner, George Mitchell of Iowa. Oliver then gifted the Number 3 to the Smithsonian.
