It was time for Col and I to do some abseiling canyons, but we hadn't abseiled in quite some time so decided to do a canyoning course. Best decision ever! Our instructor Sammy at Blue Mountains Climbing School is fantastic! We did classroom lessons, skills sessions on a cliff and then two canyons. It was a fantastic weekend camping at Blackheath and hanging with Sammy, Jess, Trent and Pete, with Mika (a second instructor) joining us for Serendipity Canyon.
This was our 29th wedding anniversary present to each other. A bit of camping, nature and adventure. Perfect!
Serendipity Canyon (Why Don't We Do It In The Road Canyon) is more remote and wild than Empress and is also stunningly beautiful! My favourite part was dropping into the hole and crawling under a log in the chamber. There are some gorgeous sections and it finishes with a cave of glow worms.
The canyon starts near Mt Wilson fire station, has a Wollangambe River wade at the bottom and then a bit of a slog back up from the valley floor.
Col and I can highly recommend this course. It was a super safe and fun way to see some new canyons and learn so much more along the way.
Mount Wilson, NSW, Australia.
