India is set to spend 2 billion dollars to develop green hydrogen. The country wants to cut emissions and become a major exporter in the field. Currently, India is one of the world's biggest greenhouse gas emitters but is aiming to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. By the end of this decade, India wants to produce 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen per year, and become a major hub for the resource, supplying ten percent of global demand. The government hopes the plan will attract private money too. It's forecast that total investment could reach almost 100 billion dollars by 2030.

You don’t take into account per capita emission when you say India is the largest GHG emitter. Very convenient.

Did anyone notice the background of this video??? Europe has to grow out of the mindset that it is the centre of world.. It's Asia primarily India and China now.. They simply can't get out of it depicting a village as a entire country

India is betting big on renewables. We have ample solar at cheap price. need to work on storage like green hydrogen, battery tech and pump storage.

The background picture is what makes me know which channel is biased and which is not . And I guess europe will never come out of this mindset .

Remarkable! Hydrogen is booming here in Europe, too. We have a planned 10 Gigawatt offshore windfarm purely for hydrogen production. It will fuel the German Ruhr area and Dutch indrustrial centres.

India doesn’t have to do this. India’s per-capita oil consumption is one of the smallest in the world, just ahead of Africa. US, Canada and Europe have the highest per-capita oil consumptions.

Western World always underestimate the Hindus of India. We Hindus are most intelligent people in the world. But were kept suppressed by Moghuls and Britishers for centuries as our Kings an leaders lacked behind in muscle power. But now we have Modi the most powerful leader in the world and now we will show our real strength to the world.

I wish them luck. At least a few people will make a lot of money trying.
DW could now look into the numbers and find out if what India wants to do is even feasible.
