I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to make this video. I was using Old Holland's Manganese Blue PB33 not realizing how toxic it is, worse than cadmiums or ceruleans even. I'm always careful with my paints, but because of environmental concerns or accidents I'd rather not risk it. This is a great alternative and it's wonderful to see all these mixes and how it granulates. I appreciate it.

I just bought this paint from Kremer after watching your video like ten times! Thank you so much for making this video. I would've never know about it if it wasn't for your video!

Sadie: Loved your swatches especially with the Quin.magnenta, the clouds rendered in your painting, and your cool music choice. Thank you!!

I've been getting rid of unnecessary toxic paints(namely cadmium ones) from my palette, too, and this has been really helpful! I do love manganese blue and own one of the last(I think?) genuine manganese blue from Old Holland. But this looks like a great substitute. So, thank you for your wee review! :)

Hey your color mixing swatches gave me an idea. The the line of zirconium cerulean mixed with quinacridone magenta could be used for clear twighlight skies. After the sun sets in a crisp clear day, you get your oranges but you also have rosy pinks and the dark edge is a nice blue violet. With that you could do a real convincing sunset behind bare winter trees with snow on the ground

I bought the last remaining bag of pigment powder PB71 at the Art Spectrum shop...80 buks for not that much. I was planning on making oil colour with it but...it looks very interesting as a wc

Au contraire! It isn't the Manganese Blue itself that's actually toxic. In Germany where they'd processed it? That machinery is outdated, thus made the creation toxic. New, updated machinery wouldn't use anything toxic on the line at all.
The problem is the same as Quinacridone Gold: they need a high demand, to make it worth their effort, such as the car industry. We're a side gig, financially to these huge Corps. They just don't have the time to deal with us Artists, and our needs, comparatively. I happily found a tube of Manganese Blue, accidentally stuck in with my oil paints, and use it sparingly with Lapis Lazuli for dramatic effects, such as my, "Moon Child".

Another brill video Sadie. I must add I 'm generally not impressed by the music chosen in YouTube vids but the music you add always seems to be interesting and enhance without being at all distracting.

Do you use a hair dryer between layers or do you let it dry naturally?

It's beautiful! ♥
Which Potter's Pink do you use? Also, did you end up getting more things from Kremer in that order? ;)

Oooh, Kramer! I've been *really* curious about a few of their pans! Namely Vermilion, Cobalt Yellow, & Cobalt Green. I kind of love this color; it looks like he received a top secret dossier and went out on a mission to reverse engineer the hue of Winny Newts' Cerulean Blue!

Judging by the other comments, it's beating a dead horse, but I get the toxicity concern. A few of my viewers have allergy concerns and they can't use some of the same colors I do, like Nickel Azo Yellow or Cadmium Scarlet. It's probably for the best that Manganese Blue isn't available to us anymore. The toxic warnings on that color are brutal.

where did you find the grid paper that you painted the first sample on?

Looks good. Thanks for the video. I've still got a kilo of managanese and am happy to say, I'm still alive.

I will take your toxic Cerulean! But not your Cadmiums because I don't really like them. ;) In art school there was a student that liked to eat his lunch in the basement printlab (basement = poor ventilation). Yeah, he totally got sick and had to drop out. When he was there the etching studio used toxic Nickle rather than Copper because it was more affordable for students. Bad idea. The new teacher came in and banned Nickle and got roofing copper in bulk at a discount and we used that.
