Pro tip: do not move the red finger back to E5 until you've struck the E6 (green finger). This lets the D5 ring a bit longer and gives a more fluid melody

Thats incorrect. The A and D strings need to ring throughout, so the hand shape is different.

For one, the middle finger stays on the D string. The green note is played with the ring finger and the following red note is played with the pointer. Blue note is played with the pinky. Pinky and ring fingers dont move so the strings ring.
