Biggest problem with certifications

Показать описание
It's no secret that in many industries, certifications can essentially be purchased. No matter the sector you're in, the authenticity of these badges of "quality" is often questionable.
Consider coffee farms in Guatemala, for example. When visiting, you might encounter what feels like a "choose your own certification" menu, where you can select the type of certification you want, almost as if you're picking a meal off a restaurant menu. This trend rings true for most manufacturers and industries worldwide.
Now, of course, there are a few certifications out there with rigorous controls and checks in place. Should you know of any that genuinely stand out, I'd love to hear about them.
Yet, the vast majority are primarily about marketing. Just because a product carries an "organic" label doesn't guarantee its authenticity or the methods behind its production. In many cases, these certifications serve as the primary indicator for quality and ethics, however flawed they might be.
But the bottom line is this: never take certifications at face value. Always dig deeper, research, and understand what they truly represent. Often, they might just be superficial markers, rather than genuine attestations of quality or sustainability.
