The magnetic shifter is pretty ingenious. Well done Chris.

This isn’t the video I was looking for, but the video I needed. I just ordered both of these mods

I did my own magnetic mod, even reduced the distance a little and became very satisfied, became a little quieter than before.

I don't really have a problem tightening my wheel, and I don't use the screw. That shifter mod looks amazing though.

There’s a way to make magnetic shifters a bit more quiet - just stick a self adhesive felt tape or smth similar on top of the magnets before installing them. May lose a little bit of the tactile feel but at the same time - won’t make as much noise

Love ‘em both... great to be able to find Canadian products as well! (Because I live in Canada 🇨🇦)... great review Barry! 👍🏻

you can put a soft material between the shifter and magnet to dampen the sound

I just placed an order for the release ring. The original screws damage all my lovely wheels.

It's the QR adaptor that's flexing, not the wheel. TM wheels are solid just like OMP or Nardi etc

Surprised that there was no mention of removing the stock paddle return springs when doing the magnetic mod.
For general testing on whether you like the feeling of magnetic shifters it's definitely enough to stick some strong-ish magnets exactly to the spot where these are glued on. (On a regular T300 Ferrari rim at least)
If you want the full effect you have to open up the wheel and remove the springs though, they turn the feeling mushier than necessary once you have magnets to return the paddles.

I’ve had my TGT2 for a week now and I’m looking to improve it. Will both of these work with the TGT2?

Hi Barry, I see you still have my quick release mounted :)

There is a bigger problem with the TM wheels. I have R383 wheel, and after 400-500 hours the plastic paddle hinges inside wore out, making paddles much looser and making me miss shifts. I wrapped isolation tape around the plastic bits that rotate on their slots, but it should be made of metal.

I guess that if you remove the springs from the spring system the magnetic feel will be increased without those springs working against it
