It’s good that you tested both the manual and automatic.

People talking about dated transmisions and turbos are not getting this car.
This is supposed to be a basic rugged 4x4, not an autobahn demon, why do you need the turbo?
The auto trans has only 4 speeds, it´s very good for offroad use, why would you need an 8 speed auto trans out there? those trans keep changing gear and overheating under those conditions, also weight more.

Yes, there are many electronic and mechanical toys around, but this is not the kind of car that needs them.

Is the Jimny a 1/4 mile car? no.
Is the Jimny a highway car? no.

It is basic, and it´s supposed to be basic; one of the best things about this car is how it drives some people crazy because "it should have this and that".

Here in Australia, any off-roader's dream is a fully rigged Toyota Landcruiser 70 series dual cab ute. And the people that have them are just itching to tow some stuck 4wd'er out of the sand and put all their gear to use. But many times due to it's displaced rear wheelbase and massive weight, it's prone to get stuck in the sand itself. And that is where the Suzuki Jimny shines. It's so lightweight that it rather drives over the sand than through it. And best of all is if it gets stuck, you just push it out because it doesn't weigh a lot.

O-60 on the manual isn't that bad actually, if you compare it to the hilux.

This was quite a test, good job PD.
This is the ultimate car, cheap, capable and feisty.
Also FU haters.

That manual 0-100 is about the same as an older Jeep I had. 1750kg and 4.0 engine in that vs 1075 and 1.5 in this. Completely different, but I can see the appeal of this being cheaper on fuel and therefore easier to justify daily use. And probably good fun revving the thing out without having to back off in 2 seconds like most moderns.

Its not designed for speed, but for off roading where the big boys play

I drive a JB74 Jimny in manual transmission, which speeds up to 70km/h as fast as a Toyota Prado or Hilux with 2.8T diesel engines after the traffic light turns green.

The acceleration seems perfectly adequate. Its faster than my 2004 CR-V in auto and manual

5:10 some reviewer complaint why traction control cannot trully swithced off and on again when passing 30km/h, because jimny use brake LSD to kick troque from spinning wheels to other wheels that have traction.

50.17 m to brake from 100 to 0 kph? That's straight out of the 1960s. Love the Jimny, but that braking performance is pretty scary.

We need this in the USA! Especially since the jeep wrangled has become so over sized and expensive!

Lol why do the auto always end up losing a gear? 5 speed would have been the sweet spot

70 mph is the fastest you can legally travel in the uk the jimny is plenty quick
