I emigrated from Bangor Co Down in December 1980 as an adult. I well remember catching the train to Belfast with my mammy and my Auntie
Belle to get my new clothes for church/Sundayschool twice a year, in the big shops, when I was just a wee girl. I was that excited, I could hardly
stand it. The best bit was having lunch in Woolworths cafe. One year there was a bomb scare in Woolies, just as we sat down to our lunch,
being of the WWII generation my mum - completely unfazed, picked up the bread and butter, parked it on top of the plate of chips and we left the building, as directed. Having paid for it, she was determined to eat it, and no IRA bomb, real or otherwise was going to stop her. I was that embarrassed 😳. As we waited outside, she made chip ‘butties ’ and enjoyed a yarn with the soldiers on duty. As a former soldiers wife herself,
she thoroughly enjoyed the banter. Today at 66 years old, and living on the other side of the world 🇦🇺 my mammy, daddy and auntie Belle all long gone, I still remember the day my mum left Woolworths with her plate of chips and ate them in a Belfast car park.

Some magical photos there. As a guy from Liverpool who spent the best part of 20 yrs there it is a city with a special place in my heart, a second home. Wonderful city with wonderful people 👍

My family moved to Belfast in 1970 fo rmy father's work, and we stayed at the Midland Hotel (mum, dad and four boys) before moving to Bangor. My 11 year old brother and I (aged 12) walked to the Queens Quay (?) station and back every day to get the train to Bangor, past army patrols presumably in Sailorstown, in our school uniform and briefcases. Cannot imagine what on earth my father thought he was doing! SOme of my family still in NI and some in England and Wales, including me. We go back as often as we can.

Good to see where my father grew up and how people were living there 100 years ago.

In the picture at 3:41 (front of city hall) I’m pretty sure the small red hatchback near the middle is a mark 1 Ford Fiesta, so it cant be any earlier than 1976.

9:44 is now the Glen Inn in Glengormley. 9:56 has been knocked down, was originally built as the Donegall Arms Hotel in Greencastle in 1860 at the bottom of Grays Lane. We knock so many old buildings down it's ridiculous. Property developers are the worst.

I enjoyed the pix of the DeLorean workers & the DeLorean automobile. I loved the style of the DeLorean back in the '80s when I was a much younger man. Fortunately, even with its problems, the DeLorean was a much safer example of Ulster engineering than the HMS Titanic.

No st mathews church is woodvale road our road finishes ainsworth ave/cambria st. Ye the word shankill comes from the word shanakill witch means in old irish is old church thou was the old church now the parochial before grave yard. Then they built and moved up to the new church. The ☘️ church. My fav church in the world. Shankill forever ♥️
