Gloves, typically made of latex, nitrile, or vinyl, are essential for preventing contact with bodily fluids and contaminated surfaces, and their proper disposal is crucial to avoid cross-contamination. Masks, including surgical masks and N95 respirators, protect against respiratory infections. Surgical masks block large droplets and emissions, while N95 respirators filter 95% of airborne particles, providing heightened protection during high-risk procedures.

Gowns and aprons shield healthcare workers' clothing and skin from splashes of blood or fluids. Gowns, made from fluid-resistant materials, are worn over regular clothing, and aprons offer additional protection. Face shields and goggles protect the eyes, nose, and mouth from aerosols or splashes, making them essential during procedures like intubation or suctioning. Additional items, such as shoe and head covers, enhance protection in settings like operating rooms or isolation units.
