Observe the difference in attitude between the man and the woman. The man learned to trust the process. To not worry about what's happening right now, and just mold the piece towards something. He's not worried about ruining it, because there is no such thing with an unfinished piece. When she saw the bamboo lines she thought it was ruined, and rationalized the action by thinking he's done this before and has a plan, a special technique or something. And he sort of does have a plan, but only the bigger picture. The only special thing here, is him believing in himself, believing he can get where he's going. Like going from point A to B, there are many possible roads in between. And by letting go of the outcome and trusting the process you enable yourself to see past the moment and just put something down.
