Stocks extended their year-to-date rally following the CPI report, with the S&P 500 last up 0.8% in afternoon trading. but I don't know if stocks will quickly rebound, continue to pull back or move sideways for a few weeks, or if conditions will rapidly deteriorate. I am under pressure to grow my reserve.

The Fed's interest rate cut leaves me pondering what stocks to buy now and when do I sell? I'm unsure how to properly allocate my money to achieve an optimal portfolio in this present economy, my goal is huge for retirement.

I have a 3 fund portfolio consisting of 33% S&P, 33% Total stock, and 33% international. I feel a need to focus on complete growth so I went 100% stocks, but does the SP500 and TSM overlap too much to make sense holding both? However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait but watching my portfolio dwindle away is such an eye -sore.

Biggest lesson i learnt in 2024 in the stock market is that nobody knows what is going to happen next, so practice some humility and low a strategy with a long term edge.

Rather of relying on penny stocks, I wish to diversify my assets by investing in ETFs/index funds/mutual funds and stocks of corporations with stable cash flows. I received 350k from the selling of my El-Paso property. What should I do?

Putting well-earned money into the stock market can't be over emphasised for first-time investors, unlike a bank where interest is sure thing! Well, basically times are uncertain, the market is out of control, and banks are gradually failing. I am working on a ballpark estimate of $5M for retirement, and I have a good 6-figure loaded up for this, could there be any opportunity for a boomer like me?

The market trend can turn around very quickly. In fact, the indexes often switch from a bear market to a bull market when the news is at its worst and the mood of investors is at its lowest point. I read an article of people that grossed profits up to $150k during this crash, what are the best stocks to buy now or put on a watchlist?

My portfolio doesn’t just cater to dividend stocks. I hold $VFIAX (S&P 500 index fund) in my Roth IRA and $VTI (Total Stock Market ETF) in my taxable brokerage account. Two of my largest holdings. The individual dividend stock positions all complement the index holdings.

Exactly, the cut is already calculated in. Also the FED never cut just once so sure next time round cut of mostly 0.25

Great take. I like it how you think in general with discipline, common sense and pace.

you have to also take into account that over the long term companies are getting better and more efficient in producing cash flows and eps with a more reliable subscription based revenue .Thats why if you look at the pe ratio historically it is going up, investors are willing to pay more years of earnings for the companies due to them being more and more efficient .

Had you bought an index fund for the amount back then would it be more now?

You are missing a key factor in your analysis. It seems like you are just looking at Bond yeilds and Stock yeilds... But you have to factor in inflation/growth of GDP.

Markets look like 2015-16. Probably going back to all time highs, but will probably go sideways until fed signals rate cut, Recently sold 25% of my $285k portfolio comprising of plummeting stocks that were recommended by certain financial YouTubers, quite devastating!

My uneducated guess 4% rates come sooner than later. Half a point drop is not a healthy sign the economy is growing.
