Who is Ron Spomer
For 44 years I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion – the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me – from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, to become an integral part of our ecosystem and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I've seen the beauty that everyone should see, survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.

There are some truly stupid regulations out there.

Another thing about the 350...
During the covid lockdowns it was the only cartage still on the shelf in quantity

I live in a state with very few cartridge restrictions, but I still admire the ingenuity and good engineering behind the .350 Legend. Might pick up a bolt action carbine in the caliber for some of the same reasons you might buy a pistol caliber lever gun.

The 460 S&W magnum is a a straight wall cartridge 1.8 inch of case length long. Ought to be a great cartridge in a short rifle.

I love this round I got it for my son in a break over so he can use it during primitive season and I’m like it so much I’m goin to buy me one on AR platform

Iowa, but they made .35 Welen and .358 Winchester legal now and they are necked down. Only a matter of time before we can FINALLY use .30-30 here.

I live in Illinois and have been trying to get into hunting. Always been an interest of mine. The regulations here are crazy. But the 350 legend looks like the way to go for me.

The 350 Legend is a nice shooting rifle for many situations. A 360 Buckmaster lever gun is on my radar too! Most people really shoot game at ranges that these cartridges work well. Even for target shooting, people shoot 50-100 yards.

One ctg you don’t hear much about is the .357 Maximum and is straight wall !
Measures 1.605 which drives a 158 grain bullet @1600+ !
I’ve only ever shot one and it was a T/C Contender with a 14” bbl !
I know it would be a good round chambered in a carbine !
Plus one could move up to a 180 grain bullet if one wanted to !

Ron talk to the people at Winchester. We need a reintroduction of the Winchester 1907 in 350 legend. Plenty of bolt guns and ARs out there but we need a semi auto with some old style wood look with mags that range from 5rd-20rds. Would make a great ranch rifle for hunting and defense.

How about the 450 bushmaster?
Can you please do a review on it. I've been thinking about picking one up for deer hunting in northern Wisconsin. Don't hear to much about them now days.

Iowa allowed the straight walled cartridge for deer hunting. It is so much better than using a slug gun. The .350 legend is fun to shoot without blowing out your arm.

I’m from PA and they just legalized this last year for hunting. In my county it was shotgun only for longest time and most people in my county hated carrying slug guns and using shotguns in general. I picked up a CVA 350 single shot for this year and boy it was best thing I ever did. It’s light and easy to carry into the woods has a pic rail so threw a holosun 510c red dot on it and little to no felt recoil. Beat thing pa did in while.

Illinois is also one of the states that allows hunting with the 350 legend.

I'm not sure what handloading does for the 30/30 but for the 350 it absolutely turns it into a monster! Especially with Lehigh defense 124 grain bullets out of a AR platform! Dead hold is increased dramatically n so it's the energy over a 170 grain bullet. N the beauty of the casing is just resize 5.56 brass !! It's way better than the blackout

Michigan is one. Which I use a 450 here verses the 350.

This cartridge was designed for all the reasons you mentioned, plus it works in AR15 rifles with just a barrel swap.

Shares the same space as the oft overlooked .357 Maximum. Which can be handloaded a bit warmer than most factory loads. At least the .350 Legend can be found on the shelf.
