Under federal law, it is illegal to toss any garbage from a boat while you are anywhere in lakes, rivers, bays, sounds, and offshore in the ocean less than 3 miles. The penalty for violating this law may result in civil penalties up to $25, 000, a fine of up to $50, 000 and/or a prison sentence of up to 5 years.

Maybe, we should show the commercials from the 1970's, give a hoot and don't pollute to instill, how important it is not to throw your trash on land, rivers, lakes or the Ocean. Mom and dad can pay the fine no problem I’m sure and that’s not good enough. They need jail time A two year-old knows better than to dump garbage. They have no care at all and it makes me sick to think they’ll get away with it.
