Changes to student visa route will reduce net migration
On 23rd of May 2023, the UK govt announced major changes to the UK student and Student Dependent visa.
New government restrictions on student visa routes will substantially cut net migration by restricting the ability for international students to bring family members on all but post-graduate research routes and banning people from using a student visa as a backdoor route to work in the UK.
So in this video, I will cover the summary of the UK announcement made on 23rd May made by the UK govt(UK Home Office) which covers 5 new updates.

0:37 1st Update :
International students will be banned from bringing dependents to the UK with them unless they are on postgraduate research programs like PhD.
This change will come into effect for students starting from Jan 2024
New government restrictions to student visa routes will cut net migration while protecting the economic benefits students bring to the UK.

02:39 2nd Update: Student switching visa
International students will no longer be able to switch from the student route to work routes in the UK before completing their studies. This ensures that students complete their degrees before applying for a work visa.

The UK government will take action against education agents involved in improper applications that prioritize immigration over genuine educational opportunities. Choose reputable agents or consider applying directly to UK universities.

The Post-Study Work visa, allowing graduates to work in the UK for two years after completing their degrees, remains unaffected. However, the dependents of Master's students cannot rely on this visa anymore.
