curious so we have seismology and the physics of waves write equations and analysis but what actual construction/building equipment is made to with stand seismic /earth waves. I would imagine  it would be building equipment that can dampen or cause destructive interference to lessen the blow to the building. But is these building equipment any different then the standard mechanical vibration equipment for harmonic balancers, ...etc that are found in some cars.

also curious is the vibrations of stuff occurring with earth just in water surfaces and on the crust layer for water waves and earthquakes or does vibrations at lower layers ever significant like mantel or lower. Or is most significant the earth vibrations occurring on water surfaces or crust of earth
