Don't tell Paul Hibbert about all of your knobs. 😁

You lasted longer than I did, without laughing, nice one as usual.

Just a FYI for anyone watching this video the switchbot lock is now supported in home assistant via local Bluetooth control. Nice to see they got it working and well 😄

Wow, I've never laughed that much while watching one of your videos.😂 Thanks for the great video...and the laughs!

I commend you for holding it together for as long as you did with all the knob talk!!! I cracked way before you :D

3:29 I think now you know why it's more pricy in your region.
In Japan, the package doesn't include all those adapters. They provide only the 2 big ones on the right.

After Home Assistant integration is done, can you re-review this?
It seems ideal for me, but without HA, there's no way.

Welcome to knob show, where we look into knobs of all different lengths and sizes.

Here I was thinking this will be another informative, descriptive home assistant/smart home video...I lost it pretty early, no clue about the device, video is great as always :D

One thing to remember is that a lot of key locks don't allow you to put your key in from the outside if there is a key already in on the inside. So if it fails for what ever reason, you'll be locked out.

I just can't stop laughing at how good the switchbot is at grabbing your knob, or any other knobs

Glad to have found this video.. I was looking to purchase this previously on launch but had held off because it didn't originally come with the cylinder knob adapter and had compatiblity issues with the stock unit on my lock (round knob). One other person with the same issue removed the knob and put a long M2.5 screw through the lock shaft as a level to make it work but that's an ugly hack.
The switchbot makes sense for us here due to new regulations requiring fire rated main doors so fitting an electronic mortise set is technically illegal if you have to cut new holes in the door - the alternative is to replace with a new fire rated door cut for the electronic mortise lockset ~US$700+ at the least for the door.
Electronic locksets also need to be certified to be both able to act as firestop and to automatically unlock when detecting high temperatures to ease escape unless there's a manual knob override.
Using the switchbot lock would allow us to skirt this since the original lockset is still in place and the door installation will meet regulations - we would just be adding a smart 'hand' to turn the knob.

I managed to pick one up with the keypad touch for £160. I think that was a pre-order price but they are currently doing 20% off although I think that finishes tomorrow. You should try out the keypad as the keypad really adds to it, with NFC card, code and fingerprint unlock methods. I would really like that Home Assistant integration though. Also, thank you for making me spit my drink all over my screen 🤣 I ended up using the device on my rear entrance knob as it was a tighter fit and my GF much prefers that method of entry. My front entrance knob is often very stiff and fails to work properly. Really should get a specialist to take a look 😅

Okay I have a question. So the door automatically locks and unlocks depending on what you tell it to do, but you can still use your old key to get into the house. It's not like the smart lock keeps the deadbolt in place regardless of if there's a key. So what is stopping someone from just picking the lock or stealing a key (I know that's less likely but my neighbor somehow had hers stolen or copied) and getting in anyways? Isn't this supposed to keep your home safer than before by not allowing the door to unlock unless you say so? I see nothing stopping anyone from breaking in. I'm genuinely interested in this product and I don't want to buy it and my place still gets broken into

Surely if you're using it with a lock with a key, you're not also going to be able to use a key in the lock from the outside of the door? That would mean a fairly high chance of getting locked out when the batteries die?

Geo location lock/unlock could be a security risk so I’m okay without it. I haven’t found another lock that would work with renters so it looks good. Nice review.

I think I’ll get it once home assistant support is in place.

I can imagine adding this to a Google or Alexa routine where amen Tully run away routine it includes locking your door 😊
