The Base model M1Pro 14" MacBook Pro is a sleeper computer and I think for a large majority of creators and editors Its all you will ever need. That said if you do need the extra performance then you know what you have to buy.

Finally someone is proving what I’ve always wanted to hear. The base model is more than enough for 98% people out there. Thank you brother and keep up your good work!

This is probably the first video I saw about the base model. Everyone else was doing the maxed out configuration and the base model did pretty much as I expected. It was more than very good. My M1 MacBook Pro with 16 GB RAM is very good. And this was more 🙂

This one spoke to me personally. Im collecting mine this weekend, and I've been extremely worried that this machine wouldn't be a good enough/enjoyable video editing timeline experience. Im hoping to improve my skills, with a virtually flawless experience using basic 4k footage. This has helped me feel a bit better. Thank you

5:00 When you stack video layers like that, you are not really stressing the system unless you do some kind of effects (picture-in picture, tiles) that require playing back all those layers at the same time.

i'm on the base model right now coming from early 2015 13' macbook pro. brother. when i tell you this is NEXT Level upgrade. incredible. so happy with my buy. literally smashes everything i throw at it - music production, video editing, light gaming (i have consoles anyway), everything. never lags never hiccups. perfectly and exactly smooth.

Love that you are keeping it real and not just trying to advocate for people going all out on top specs when they realistically don't need it. I'm on last year's mini and it has been fine for me in editing my videos(which are 8-bit). It's my first time using a Mac and it has been the perfect intro to the ecosystem. I don't feel like I needed anymore power than what I got

I love the detail you go into, I love your channel, thank you!

Note : When you stack footage test
You have to lower the opacity of each layer to different values.
Great review though
Thank you so much

I thought I'd come back & thank you as I just bought a base M1 14" MacBook Pro in July 2023 & boy does this MacBook deliver & I got my M1mac book at a great price 25% cheaper than the M2 . I watched your vid a while back & was a help in me deciding I didn't need a M2 Mac at 2099 & if I could find a new M1 that would be a winner for me . Anyone out there if you can find a New M1 MacBook, I'd highly recommend one over the M2.

Great video! Thanks for showcasing how powerful this base model actually is! I am very much between the base 16" and base 14" due to the display size. obviously with the 16" you get the unbinned M1 Pro which is a great option to go for as well. though the price jump is significant. After this video i'm more than ever convinced the base 14" is sufficient for my needs which are mainly photo editing anyways.

I went to Costco today intending to get the new air, I ended up finding out the pro was on sale for 400$ more so I bought that 😂 I’ve been giddy day

8 bit footage is quite easy for most computers these days. I went with the 16” M1 Max 32core 64GB 1TB because I edit mostly 6K 10bit or ProRes RAW. I want this machine to last at least a few years and as cameras become more capable I want to be able to keep up. 4K is quickly becoming the new 1080p. With that said the 14” will work for a lot of people. Thanks for the review man!

This helps a lot mate. I just bought the 14 1TB M1 Pro and I was worried about Premier Pro lagging issues. You made me happy. Thanks brother I will subscribe

Appreciated you getting straight to the point- few people give a shit about unboxings anymore. And that 10:03 snuck up on me with that baby making music 😆 - you killed it!

is all you need, unless you want a bigger screen. Then that bigger screen comes with an extra 4 hrs of battery and going for the bigger screen also bumps up the cores :) so I agree the 14 is all you need but if you want a bigger screen that 400 extra includes a lot of extras. However I agree the max chip is over kill for a generic user

I have the 15” 2015 MBP and I love it! Sometimes I find myself wishing for a bigger screen so I don’t think I would go for anything else other than the 16” when I upgrade it maybe in 2-3 years.

Finally a real-world video editing test for the base model. If it can run premiere this good, it will run resolve/fcp even better so it was a good decision to test with it.

Great video, just what I was looking for.
That 14" rocks, but the 16" base model also looks good for the money.
