Still hard to believe how truly FANTASTIC these Mexican 70's strats sound.

It's hard to describe in words, the sound is fuller, more bottom, but at the same time tighter and still very bright. Like the sound of Hendrix's axe in Little Wing. A lot of it has to do with the pickups. When I bought it, it had the original pickups in the middle and neck positions, but a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail in the bridge and the SD did not get "that" sound. Fortunately, the guy still had the original bridge pickup and I have since reinstalled it and it sounds great.

Mark always plays classy stuff. Love it.

There's only one problem with Mark's demos --- I always end up wanting to buy the guitar!!!! Pure class without unnecessary waffle or obsessively self-indulgent shred.
Mark's voice always reminds me of the self-deprecating tones of Roy Buchanan

Love your reviews and your playing is so cool. I have this exact guitar and it is awesome, everything a good 70s Strat should be. I would 100% recommend this guitar, if you like true vintage tones and feel, then this is an under estimated gem.

have this same model, MIM, same finish, board etc. Bought it in 2004 from one of the staff in local music store, the staff had first choice on the best of the stock and he'd bought this but then bought a PRS so sold me this for half the new price, absolutely mint and perfectly set up. Was thinking of selling it as I have another two rosewood strats, an Ibanez Prestige which I found smashed in the street in a $10 vinyl softcase, had it all put back together but think I'll sell it and a Japanese Squier custom job, single Seymour Duncan JB humbucker at bridge, just a volume control and Schaller Floyd Rose and Schaller pegs. Looking to downsize but after watching this make keep the Fender and add new pickups and just sell the Ibanez. Really liked your playing, the little bit of Sly and the Family Stone :)

+1 on the Frudua Strat tuning method. Basically, he uses his fingers and the trem bar to seat the strings during tuning. Once they're properly seated they don't move as much, thus giving them far more tuning stability. It is pretty extraordinary how his simple setup & tuning tips really do keep a Strat-style trem in tune by a large factor. Not many guys know about the method.

If you can afford the upgrade, the Super Vee Bladerunner and Mag-Lok also can help a Strat stay in tune with no modification of the guitar body. The Mag-Lok is a particularly awesome device imho. Staggered locking tuners would finish the job off nicely. At that point though, you're almost in "new guitar" territory. All depends how much you love your S-Style guitar....

Buy this Mexican guitar and use the money you save on the American equivalent toward a high end amp and you will have a way better tone than an American Stratocaster with a middle of the road amp. Compare a deluxe reverb reissue to a tone king imperial for example.

Hello, I see you upload videos about licks and tricks every now and then. I'd suggest you do a maple fretboard vs rosewood f. tutorial and the way it affects the sound, possibly on a Strat or any other Fender guitar. Bye, thank you!

My first guitar was the American '70s version and I bet that that's very similar in quality. Might be one of the best deals out there.
