I used to call my grandparents Oma and Opa before the passed away 😞it was really sad because they never got along until my Oma (grandma) got alzheimers and lost her memory /ability to do things, he loved her but they would still argue and my Opa (grandpa) got cancer, he put my Oma into a nursing home and she was very well cared for there. He would always visit her but my mom would drive him up to a hospital for treatment. He only had cancer for around a year and it was gone for months until he went back for a checkup and they found another tumor. He started treatment again but then he decided to stop. My Oma of course never knew but she would be SO happy when she saw my Opa. She couldn’t remember anyone (including my mom) and that made her really sad. She only remembered my Opa. He passed away while we were staying with him in his apartment. Soon after, my Oma died from what we believe to be a broken heart/loneliness. It was very hard on my mom and my family but it was 2 years ago so we have mostly gotten over it but there is no real “getting over it” it’s just acceptance, which is hard.
Sorry if I took any joy out of the video I have just never heard anyone else call their grandparents Oma and Opa. Please have a good day/night if you are reading this.
