Waiting for all the morons in the comments telling me how to beat the game. 😂

“I won.” No you didn’t.

“Just outbid the shill.” You can’t

“You win by betting the last cap he touches.” YAFI

“What if I bring 50k?” You don’t have 50k

“They always let you win a little first. Just walk away then.” No they don’t and YAFI

I always wondered how they worked around the better being right, never got a clear answer on that until today... Great info 👍

Yep! I always figured it was weird until I encountered it in the wild. I too quickly observed that 90% of the crowd was totally in on it and that that made it impossible to win. Even IF you could win all they had to do was have someone cry foul for some reason and it's suddenly 7 guys vs you.

That said, in calmer scenario's where you suspect shenanigans like a magician just removing the ball from wherever and putting it underneath when turning them over you could try saying "well it's not these two" and immediately turn over 2 of the 3 caps. Then, no matter if the 3rd is empty, the magician will have to concede or admit he has cheated.

Thank you for bringing attention to this scam. Cheers from Poland

you ALWAYS lose, even when you picked the correct card, you still lose by one of the following:

1. A shrill out bid you to cancel your bet.
2. They yell 'cop' took everything and run (including your bet).
3. they do sleight of hands to switch out the correct card (even if you catch it, how are you going to prove it), not when you are surrounded by their buddies.
4. They will follow you and mug you.

you can't win, as matter as fact, don't even stand around to watch. As you are likely going to be pick pocketed by one of their buddies.

I remember playing this on a drunken night between bars. Guy was doing it with cards, one of which was a bit dog eared. No shill's but I won $5 and then he talked me into $20. Needless to say- I lost. It was worth it just for the fun of it. I ended up telling my pops about the affair. A streetwise individual from NY and Chicago and he said "Next time put your finger on the card you want and then have him flip the other two. They won't be your card as none of them are but then he'll have to explain how your card isn't the card either." Again, no way to win. *LOL*

I also heard the the people who run this game hold onto counterfeit money so if you do win they give you back all counterfeit.

I've seen a lot of videos warning against the shell game. This is, by far, the best. I don't know anyone who would bet on the game, but that's the psychology the shills use. It reaches out to our greed. Thanks much!

Nice breakdown, cool seeing it in the wild like that. Makes you realize that expert sleight of hand isn’t even required. Even a “sloppy” Monty has tactics/outs

Very good explanation. I've watched these guys (there are several teams on the Las Vegas Strip who've been working in the same locations for years), and brought it to the attention of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the Clark County Commission, and the media, but the games continue and naive tourists continue to lose lots of money.

I would add two more points:

1) The team is more extensive than what you see in this video. There are lookouts on all sides, on the opposite ends of the pedestrian bridges, watching all directions. They watch for anything suspicious, including police. If they do see police, the signal is given. Each member has a task, and they all go in different directions. The dealer is first out with all the cash. That's how they disappear so quickly. After they've scattered, one person collects the table. He'll be the first to return later to set the table up. Then the others join in when it's safe again. They may have a member of the team follow you if they catch you recording or photographing them. They are organized and serious, and can be physically aggressive, maybe violent. This is their livelihood.

2) IF you somehow manage to actually win, don't think for a moment you'll collect. The entire team, including lookouts, will turn against YOU and accuse YOU of cheating. They are professional criminals, and they WILL NOT let you take their hard-earned money.

Thanks for making this video. A lot of these games are also here to distract tourists while there are pickpockets in the crowd stealing peoples wallets etc. Oh and if you feel smarter than the guys doing this scam, don't try to make them loose by showing they are cheating or anything else because they might assault you later

I won tonight but I don’t bet anything. The guy was about to hand me $1000 but then he says that I need to show him my own $1000. He says if I go to the ATM and pull out the money and show it to me. He’ll give me the money. I of course declined. What kind of scam is that?

Just as I was thinking what if...you go over the scenario. Amazing!

I just witnessed this in a mall in Scottsdale, Arizona today. The guy was smooth. He appeared to be alone but I’m sure he had some lookouts somewhere around. The mark went to the ATM to get more cash… After t loosing, they left and the guy was gone. He was sitting with a small mat on his lap using metal bottle caps. So smooth… I’ve never seen such a small setup.

Look up “Scottsdale Monte Game”. It’s the same exact pitch but a different guy. 🤯

I feel bad for the marks and at the same time, it was a beautiful performance.

I'm in Vegas now, and what I noticed is I see this game everywhere now. In previous years, I didn't really see this game at all.

What surprises me is they always have hundreds in their hand, who would bet a hundred on this.

Yup this exact game got me..$600 short went out to a food truck with my girlfriend and just like he described it seemed easy the first couple tries to get your confidence up then when you bet big bucks you get scammed

Amazing how just a few hours ago I told my colleague how I lost money in Budapest almost 10 years ago exactly like this. After losing I started to follow the game a bit more and noticed the shills and how the operator worked with the ball. I was impressed about the theatrics and the most likely fake money they had a huge pile of. Nowadays I know better to do my due diligence BEFORE investing 😂

Thanks for the video! Very educational!

This was a good find Jason. I was in Raleigh NC and saw three card Monte being played and understanding how the con is played saved a guy from losing money with it.
