After seeing them side-by-side, I think one of the main reasons chatGPT comes out on top is because Notion has to pay for calls to the OpenAI API, whereas chatGPT is getting the "employee discount, " so to speak, because it's an internal product meant to WOW people on the power of AI (and thus, Open AI's GPT API as a product).

When you call the GPT API, you can specify things like the length of the response you want. The longer the length, the more tokens are used, which means a more expensive API call. Thus, Notion is likely erring on the side of caution (and lower costs) by keeping the responses shorter while they beta test the feature.

You gave points to Notion twice for being "about on par" with ChatGPT for the story writing question and the chemistry problem question. However, it was pretty clear to me that ChatGPT blew Notion out of the water for both questions. So, my takeaway is that Notion AI can make headings and subtle formating, but it can't come close to ChatGPT in any ways that matter.

i use both. they each serve different purposes. i use notion for a specific workspace and i think that makes the ai more accurate to my needs within that workspace. i cant train chatgpt to do that. but, i do use chatgpt for other stuff where im not relying on internal data.

1) In the shelter dog vs puppy test, only ChatGPT mentioned puppies, and only twice. Neither mentioned the dangers involved with rogue puppy breeders.

2) At 9'56" you referred to ChatGPT as Notion AI, but it was very obvious which one you meant.

3) The explanation example assumed you knew what 'coefficient' means, but did give you the answer that it needs to be the same for all parts of the equation. You could have asked it to explain what 'coefficient' means, but you'd have to know that that was the answer in order to know what to ask it to explain, if you know what I mean.

It might be worth remembering that Notion are still developing their AI and presumably testing and tweaking it. It would be interesting to see a remake of this video when it's out of beta.

For me, as someone who uses both, this video is both interesting and useful. Thanks for making it.

The data set that Notion's AI model was trained on was likely not nearly as large as the data set ChatGPT was trained on so it makes sense that it's not as detailed or sophisticated.

Both tools assumed that shelter dogs were trained and used to humans, so if it's an inaccuracy, it's one they both tripped up on equally. (Not arguing the point either way, just that both of them made it.)

I'll have to explore Notion.
