When I was a kid I used to go watch Hakeem play when he was Akeem at the University of Houston. Olajuwon is my favorite player of any sport all time & easily the greatest center ever. On top of all that, I have never seen an athlete with more class than Hakeem Olajuwon. An amazing generational talent on the court and a gentleman of humility and discipline off, modern atheletes would do well to model Hakeem's grace, style, and work ethic. There will never be another like him.

If you're a younger fan, you're probably missing the context of how great some of the players he is matched up against were, including defensively. David Robinson's defense would be a straight jacket for probably 95% or more centers. Ewing was also a very strong defender. Both Robinson and Ewing are top 20 all time in NBA defensive rating. Olajuwon was just that good at his peak.

For me the greatest center of all times his skills were like a giant point guard! How he abused Shaq in the finals Beat Kareem in the Western conference finals, destroyed David Robinson, and killed Ewing in the finals! The Dream GOAT

What Hakeem did to Robinson might be considered borderline criminal. There was just something about playing against Robinson that brought out the absolute best in Hakeem.
