Disclaimer: My video is for people who want to learn English with an accent similar to mine. My accent is Standard Southern/Neutral British English. There are many types of different accents, all are unique and part of your identity. Although I TEFL certified I am not a linguist specialist, and I am also learning things as I am making this series.

You've got a wonderful accent. It is mellifluous.

I think that the differences between /ʌ/ and /ɑ:/ in your pronunciation are:
1. /ʌ/ is lax, /ɑ:/ is tense
2. /ʌ/ is shorter, /ɑ:/ is longer
3. /ʌ/ is simple, /ɑ:/ is a bit nasalized.
4. /ʌ/ is made more in the back of the mouth, while /ɑ:/ is made more in front of the mouth
5. /ʌ/ is made with mouth ajar, /ɑ:/ is made with the mouth wide open.

These vowels are realized differently in the American accents. In a way their a is the British ^.
