Mike Dawes performs his new acoustic fingerstyle guitar piece 'Push', featuring fusion guitarist Jack Gardiner and a guest solo by Australian prog wizard Plini.

‘This track represents the final leg of the global lockdown. ‘Push’ is about battling with motivation and drive every day, with some days feeling full of fight and some feeling like an impossible mountain. The pendulum in the artwork and the guest musicians help represent this with Jack playing the part of the push, whilst Plini is illustrated by his moon iconography and to put it plainly, existential dread.’

‘Mike and I have crossed paths on multiple continents in just about every possible way (last minute gigs, house parties, a Las Vegas casino) yet somehow still not ended up on a piece of recorded music together, so it was a pleasure to finally make that happen. Bonus milestone to share the audio space with Jack too!’

‘Having known Mike for a number of years now and being inspired by just how much of a special voice he has with the instrument, I was super excited for an opportunity to collaborate on a track. Mike and Plini are two of the most talented guitarists on the planet, but also incredibly humble dudes. I can’t wait to have real-life interactions with the guys and with audiences again sometime soon!’

I know and love Plini and Mike, but have never paid enough attention to Jack Gardiner. Man, he is fantastic! Plays exactly what needs to be played, nothing less, nothing more. Great solo from Plini too, and what a fantastic composition!
