Nordic Thingy:91 Getting Started // Cellular IoT

Показать описание
The Thingy:91 is a pocket-sized, cellular-enabled IoT sensor prototyping platform based on the nRF9160 SiP and nRF52840 SoC. Thanks to those modules, its environmental sensors can communicate over LTE-M, NB-IoT, Bluetooth 5, Thread, ZigBee, and more – plus, it has built-in GPS!

We've talked about this one before, and now we have a ton of helpful documentation on getting started with this remarkable device:

Hello, good description of the Nordic board, you can include other boards for IoT and IIoT with RF LoRa, ZigBee technologies in your next videos. Regards.

I've had the original Nordic Thingy for a year or so. Communication is via bluetooth which I found to be limiting and difficult to interface with my home automation which is largely Wifi and Zigbee based. I may give this new device a try as the device package looks sweet.

I wonder how many people buy this and never write any code for it. The demo application does enough that a lot of users probably don't care for anything else. In that case, is it really a development platform or just a completed device? I see lots of info on getting started, but no sample code, nothing on how easy or hard it is to write your own application.

Thanks for the introduction. It all looks very nifty (yes, I said nifty). How does the cell service work? I'm kind of reluctant to sign up with these services because they seem to all require a subscription with automatic renewals tied to my credit card account. I'd rather have a pay as you go service.
