Obviously, Pegg wasn't consulted on making the #StarTrekBeyond trailer. You could see the pain in his reaction to this question. The marketing folks at Paramount obviously wanted to make STB look like an action film. Pegg's message was clear to fans, keep the faith that this will be a Star Trek movie and not the Guardians of the Fast and Furious Wars. I have a lot of faith in Pegg and Lin given their lifelong love of Star Trek. Boldly Go!!!

Simon Pegg's honesty and pain made this a far better trailer for the film than the actual trailer was.

I'm still excited for Star Trek Beyond but the fact that the trailer said there were 3 extra people brought on to co-write the script gives me the impression that a lot of what he wrote has been either rewritten or punched up with action. His face at the end of this video looked like he could've burst into tears...

Makes me like Simon Pegg even more for giving an honest answer, as a Star Trek fan himself, unlike the people making the film, such as Abrams who explicitly said he wasn't a fan of Star Trek... Yeah that's the kind of person you want directing one of the biggest and most popular franchises with the most loyal and emotive fan base...

Oh my god. His eyes were actually shining, like he was blinking back tears. I don't even want to know what made him feel so ... hurt. I mean, the trailer was bad, but he looked like there was something that broke inside of him from being so closely related to the fuckery that happened with this film.

Gives me more hope for the film but why intentionally alienate your base who are the most powerful advocates. The last film and this trailer have me despairing for Trek on the big screen.
