The World's OLDEST Toy Store : Exploring Hamley's in London

Hamleys is the world's oldest toy store chain. It was founded by William Hamley as "Noah's Ark" in High Holborn, London, in 1760. The store initially focused on selling toys, games, and dolls. The located I visited is the flagship store on Regent Street. I was extremely impressed with the presentation, selection of toys, and the staff who dressed up for the occasion!

That is an amazing toy store! Thanks for a fantastic tour! What a variety of toys there are available. Growing up in the 1940s & 50s, I had mostly hand made toys. My favorite was a set of building blocks my grandfather made out of an apple tree that blew over in a storm, and I still have the teddy bear my grandmother made for me 70+ years ago.

My kids dad would love this store and never leave. He's a 58 year old big baby 😅. He would probably definitely snatch up those star wars lego sets in a heartbeat. 😊

This toy store would be a dream come true for any kid! But I'm not sure I'd want to take any kids in there. My wallet would be a lot smaller when I came out. The Lego Queen Elizabeth was amazing. Glad you got your picture with her. Thank you again!

Hamley's is most definitely a very big toy store and they
are probably very expensive also but a kid would get lost

It's been great to see your view of the city I grew up in. You HAVE TO - no arguments - return sometime and do a Part 2. Suggestions are Portobello Market on a Saturday, the Tower of London and maybe the Churchill War Rooms, an underground WW2 HQ in the centre of London.

I think that it’s a question of the toys that you have had since childhood - for me, I’ve always had teddy bears since I was a child, so I’m drawn to the teddy bears every time, even in my 50’s for myself 😍😍😍😍
