Astrophotography - Auriga and Flaming Star Nebula

Показать описание
Life is stressful. But, there are many ways to deal with stress. For me, it is doing astrophotography, rockhounding, hiking and camping with my little buddy, Shadow. In this video, Shadow and I unwind up the beautiful canyon above our home while we do some astrophotography of the various nebulae within the constellation of Auriga. Auriga, the charioteer, is a dense star forming region. It is packed with space dust and star forming Nebulae such as the Flaming Star Nebula, the Tadpole Nebula, the Spider Nebula, and the Fly Nebula. It is also home to two spectacular star clusters: the Starfish Cluster and the Pinwheel Cluster.
One of the interesting facts about the Flaming Star Nebula is that it is lit up and heated by a runaway star known as AE Aurigae. Most stars follow an orbital path around the center of the Milky Way. However, now and then, due to a supernova or possible gravitational pull from another star, a star can go "rogue." AE Aurigae is one such star. Originating from the Orion Constellation, it has travelled through the galaxy to the Auriga Constellation. It is a very hot star and is responsible for hearting up the space dust that makes up the Flaming Star Nebula, causing the hydrogen atoms to excite and emit light.
Shadow and I invite you to come with us, relax by the fire, and enjoy a night of astrophotography while we image the beautiful deep space nebulae and star clusters within the Auriga Constellation. We hope you enjoy!
