Yeah, I know some comments say he's just biased, but we need more people saying this in bigger platforms. There's just too much hype. Balanced discussion will fix a lot of the current problems. The main problem is that all the decision makers in companies listen to the marketing hype as if that is ground truth but it's not even close. They don't know what's real because they aren't technical enough.

I use gpt every day as a developer. It does more than implement sorted lists or other basic comp sci algorithms. I can feed it multiple files, it remembers context about my very large and complex enterprise applications. It doesn't spit out 100% correct things all the time and i have stumped it before, but for the vast majority of things it is very helpful.

My experience with AI code says that other than the most basic of code is beyond the grasp of large language models. This is because the simple stuff is used and spoken about by all those people that just stick their tire into coding. Serious programmers don't need to ask questions about as many things, and more obscure and new libraries don't have enough discussion to train the model.

I would probably agree with your guest if I was an old guy trying to protect my job as a coder, but I don't. AI has more potential and is more powerful than he admits. My personal opinion is that it is a threat to the human race. By the way I'm just asking because I don't know but does he dye his hair and have capped teeth?

I liked your interviews with H.G. Tudor, but this was almost incomprehensible to me. It was like listening in on two best buddies who've known each other all their lives talking in shorthand with all the jargon and names and initials, not to mention your _both_ constantly talking over each other so that nobody's finishing a sentence. Is this broadcast for computer programmers only? Who's your audience supposed to be? Not me for sure.

As a software developer myself, this guy really offers no insight other than anecdotes that are available with a few minutes of a Google and YouTube search. Listening to him is like nails on a chalkboard. His reductive explanations hit all of the biased talking points, but actually don't offer the reasons as to why LLMs do what he is talking about. The fact that he uses the term "woke" is just painful. You could tell from the beginning how he just tried to get on his soapbox and tried to go off without any sort of conversation, constantly interrupting you without actually allowing you to complete your points. He just wants to say what he wants to say without actually letting you get your points in. He is the epitome of Dunning-Kruger. I hope you find better guests.

Treat AI like a really smart kid. They will be lazy and lie to you. You just have to stay on top of them. As for AIs writing code, he's not doing it right.

If you know SQL and general programming, you just tell the AI to create the SQL to generate a pail to hold X information. Then you can tell the AI to write a PHP function to insert/update the table with Y parameters. Then you tell it to document the function.

For better code, you can specify what coding standards to use.

I'm in a pilot for a marketing AI that will be released later this month. It will blow your mind if you want to see a demo.
