Kevin Shields - 2 (Full length 'CD Rip' Version)

The rarer, higher quality, full length version. A few versions online exist - a 7 minute long blown out low quality live recording, a mono, fairly low quality rip, and a fan-made stereo-doubled version of the mono version. Then there's this one I discovered, which has the odd intro, is noticeably in stereo, decent quality, and the "percussion" is more audible.

This is one of the tracks Kevin did for La La La Human steps. From what I heard, this track was available on their website in MP3 form for a while - I assume that's where this version came from. I've also heard this version described as the "CD rip version" which may indicate that the mono version is the one that came from the website - no idea. It was the late 90s or early 2000s when this would've existed.

He also made 3 more tracks at a different time which were more properly released on a 1999 CD - Exaucé Salt.

Later update I should mention: A user also found this and uploaded lossless rips of the CD in which this track was taken from. The tracks are split by "movement" and this track has an ugly cut in it, but I believe somewhere I have a file where I neatly spliced it. So lossless does exist.

yes. this, some of the finest work Kevin's ever done, chased it for years since I heard the first snippet more than a decade ago. I also bought the, at least at the time, rather expensive La La La Human Steps CD that, as legend has it, was sold at their shows. unfortunately as you say, this track is not included, at least not on the version I have. this is just incredible music

I have the version that was on the website originally and it is mono and lower quality than this recording. There were CDs of the song floating around apparently that were made for the performances themselves. This has always been my favorite bit of Kevin's playing -- it is post-loveless, made in his nascent home studio during the period of time that he reported in some interviews as being very productive... but of which we've seen almost nothing.

hmm very cool! Im brenan6, the guy that uploaded the fan-made doubled version. Such a beautiful track. Glad to hear a more accurate version of this song. Where did you find this version? Its totally gorgeous... although I prefer my own treatment haha even though its not the real deal (love that stereo doubling. I know kevin was pretty absolute on his mono-ness). Absolute respect for digging up the real track (if this is the real track!?). The mystery of this song seems to weave itself deeper and deeper. Cheers man!
