He’s not punishing you. He’s giving you what you wanted. To be separated from him.

I am reminded of the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31. Both die. The rich man ends up in Hades, while Lazarus, a beggar to the rich man, ends up with Abraham.

The rich man, who should've taken care of Lazarus calls out to Abraham to send Lazarus to him to "cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this flame!"

This seems to indicate a few things. First, Hades seems to be a place of extreme heat and fire. Second, the rich man, although in torment, does not repent. He doesn't apologize to Lazarus for how he treated him. Instead, he still refuses to speak to Lazarus. Instead, he still views Lazarus as less than. He views him as someone whom Abraham can send to take care of him and his needs.

This is a key passage in my mind that would support how a loving God can send people to eternal torment in hell. The people there never change. Their rebellion doesn't stop. They don't end up in hell and suddenly repent because they suddenly know the truth. No, they continue in their sin and rebellion against a God who, by nature, is both loving and just.

Just my two cents from a guy still stumbling my way through following Christ and leaning every day on His grace and mercy.

God is loving but He is also just. It goes hand in hand. The fact that there is a consequence for our sin doesnt make God any less loving. In fact, Jesus took all of that consequence upon Himself so that we would never have to experience hell. This shows how loving He truly is. Its a hard pill to swallow, but hell is eternal death. That doesnt make God any less loving though.

1. Matthew 25:46 - "And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
2. Mark 9:43-48 - "And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, 'where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.'"
3. 2 Thessalonians 1:9 - "They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might."
4. Revelation 14:11 - "And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name."

These verses emphasize the biblical teaching on the reality of eternal punishment for those who reject God.

It is heresy to say hell is not eternal when all throughout the gospels, Jesus teaches it being eternal and the rest of the New Testament supports this as well.

It says in the Bible that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Fearing God will lead you to seek Him, then you'll love Him for other reasons besides fear.

He says the fire is never quenched. The fire is continuously going. In revelations the enemies of God are tormented day and night and their smoke arises forever and ever.

Catholic here, I know it’s difficult to believe this but yes hell is eternal. And it’s not God doing it to us, it’s our choosing. It’s humans having no repentance. Mercy is always available as long as we’re alive. Mercy is a grace all we have to do is take it! Yes it’s difficult to think about eternal hell, but I do think some people choose that over mercy, which is sad and difficult to understand, but God can’t force us to accept His mercy, or to love Him.

If that was the case, then why would anyone need to repent? You can suffer for a while and eventually get out.
Also, Scripture definitely points to ETERNAL damnation in mannnyyy places.

You love God when you worship Him. Eventually you realize that you have begun to worship Him because you love and love the feeling you get from worshipping Him. ❤

The Bible says to work out your faith with fear and trembling, a fear of God is healthy. While we don't inly fear Him, if the Supreme Being, that He is, shows up in your room and all His Glory we would fall to our knees. Like the phrase "just wait till your dad gets home". Terrified me. I wasn't afraid of my dad, but I knew he would be just .

Hell isn’t a pit of fire literally just like Cliffe said, it’s separation from Him.

We will experience His love for a moment when we are judged and stand face to face with Him, but if we are separated from Him, we will realize what we lost, and we are separated from Him forever now that we chose to be separated from Him in this life

God doesn’t SEND anyone to hell.

You choose it yourself.

Your soul does not expire, your soul is eternal.

You don’t get to not believe it because you’re scared it may be true.

Matthew 25:41-46 ESV
[41] “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. [42] For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, [43] I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ [44] Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ [45] Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ [46] And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
