Astronomers have found an unusually large planet orbiting a red dwarf star located about 280 light-years from Earth
The unexpected size of this newly discovered world, has led researchers to call it a “forbidden planet”.
The host star, TOI-5205, is just about four times the size of Jupiter, yet it has somehow managed to form a Jupiter-sized planet, which is quite surprising
Though gas giants have been discovered around red dwarf stars before, none of them were orbiting such a low mass star.
The size disparity in the size is so great that when TESS used the transit method, the dip in light was about 7% of the star's total light output.
