Untreated Dislocated Kneecaps Rob Elderly Dachshund Of His Mobility

With two dislocated kneecaps having floated all the way up his tiny legs to his hips, senior Dachshund Bugsy has lost all mobility in his back legs. Entirely unable to walk and barely able to even stand, this poor boy has likely spent years in pain and will need extensive physical therapy to get back on his feet.

When Bugsy arrived at Little Paws Dachshund Rescue along with his best friend Sugar, this poor boy was completely unable to use his back legs. Concerned that he might be in pain, one of our incredible volunteers brought Bugsy immediately to the vet. Diagnostic testing revealed that Bugsy's mobility impairment was caused by his kneecaps, which had become dislocating, migrating up his legs and were sitting up near his hips.

We suspect that poor Bugsy has been in this condition for several years, suffering from severely limited mobility as a result. In addition to the horrendous condition of his back legs, Bugsy is experiencing alopecia and is missing the fur across most of his body. Bugsy will need a great deal of support if we have any hope of giving this sweet boy the quality of life that he deserves, including physical therapy and, of course, lots of love.

We don't know much about Bugsy's past or how he came to be in such a sorry state, but we know that this old boy has a bright future ahead of him. Despite his impairments, Bugsy is the picture of resilience. Our little guy could not be sweeter, and we could not imagine a dog more deserving of our support. We are hopeful that with the right care, we can give Bugsy at least some of his freedom back.

If you are able, please consider making a contribution to help us cover the cost of Bugsy's expensive treatment. We would also greatly appreciate any items donated from Bugsy's wishlist of essential supplies. Thank you for your invaluable support!

Oh he's the sweetest boy and so sad his surgery on his knee caps wasn't done, but he is doing beautifully with his disability. Have you tried swimming under careful supervision, but you can get floatation devices to help him and it's non impact exercise.❤
