This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. This organic music, which they call “Brasshouse,” is the musical culmination of all different styles and upbringings.

Forged in the depths of the New York City subway system, Too Many Zooz is unlike anything you’ve ever heard. While only consisting of three members (Matt Doe on trumpet, Leo P. on baritone saxophone, King of Sludge on drums/percussion), Too Many Zooz has the ability of producing a booming sound. This organic music, which they call “Brasshouse,” is the musical culmination of all different styles and upbringings. While still a young band, Too Many Zooz has received quite a bit of attention. The New York Post calls them “The hottest thing in New York City music”. Questlove (The Legendary Roots Crew) tweeted a video of them, saying, “THIS is how The Roots got their start....minus Youtube to spread the quicker word. Peep NYC’s own”. While Too Many Zooz grows and continues on their journey, you can still find them from time to time

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I played in a cruise ship band with Leo (bari sax player) a few years ago, and I will never forget him talking about the solo album he wanted to record called "Unprotected Sax." Every bit the same person in real life as he is onstage.

By far the best pelvic thrusting ever done on a TED stage.

w/ all that hip movement, that bari's gonna give birth to a little alto sax in nine months

Leo P is a true performer. buck wild dancing while doing his crazy style of sax playing can't be easy.

The thing I love about young groups like them, is that they're making really great music using standard instruments (with a modern twist) in a time where electrostep rules.

I haven't heard that sax guy hit ANY sour notes and Ive watched like 20 of these too many zooz videos, absolutely phenomenal how he can dance as well as he can and not hit any bad notes!! Amazing!

I would like to think that the legends of jazz would be proud of these young men.

These three are individually talented enough that they could've went a more traditional route in their musical careers and gone very far, but instead are actually trying to do something new and original.

Life hack: If you ever want to hear life changing music/rap/performance; visit the NYC subway. Several of my plans were postponed by amazing people playing music. Best drug ever.

... it's not just the unblieveable music - it's the unblievable passion of three guys who couldn't be more different

start of each song - 1:45 - 7:15 - 12:27 - just so I can replay and watch without hearing the intros again, I'm playing this a lot :)

Dayummm....Leo must have brass lungs to be able to play like that WHILE jumping around like a madman! These guys are incredible! I wish I found these guys sooner!

It’s nice to see their version of “fancy dress”. Leo in a casual sweater, Sludge in a tuxedo shirt, and Matt in an open button up with a popped collar

They are all great, but that bari sax player steals it all the way, playing, dancing, style, everything. Great to see a proper recording of these guys
