Hello!
I am a musician from Toronto! I like making music and building/experimenting with cool guitar effects. I share bits of guitar advice and philosophy with those looking to level up guitar playing and music creation. I also enjoy building up smaller artists with my indie artist feature series and curating Spotify playlists to spread their music/other music I enjoy. I use my online presence to spread a sense of wonder about guitar and the endless possibilities of sound. Hope you enjoy!

The thicker strings are so your string tention isn't slacky af

You do need thicker strings for tuning stability if you don't want to fork out for an evertune bridge or a drop pedal.

I don't know, bud. For me to get down to A Standard on a six string, them strings need to be CHONKY.

11s are a great balance between feel and playability. And It keeps the action quite low without vibrating too much.

that video is the biggest prove that u need a heavier string to play in this kind of tune

It’s hard for the guitar to stay in tune with smaller strings in my experience (even with locking tuners), and it’s a lot more difficult/sloppier to play without the proper string gauge. Trust me, because I play as far down as drop G on my epiphone Les Paul modern with 10 gauge strings and I really need to set up my guitar with thicker strings because it’s currently a mess to play lol. I’m also going to buy an eight string in the near future, which will solve the problem but for now I use what I’ve got.

Thicker strings are the best way to tune down a floyd rose without wasting time loosening the springs.

Do it again but with only one guitar, I believe the pickups (if they are different) are making up most of that difference.

Yer fingers aren't beefy enough to get the right tone from 12s. Those things were designed for bear people and those to whom traffic lights are more of a suggestion.

I always use like 11-52's on drop C to Drop A#. In Drop a# the lowest string gets a little bit loose but not like too much, Drop B is like almost perfect for me with 11-52's the lowest string is not too tight or too loose and Drop C is like the higest tuning I can tune my guitar without the fear of a string snapping.

12’s did sound more full. Also, most importantly you want heavier gauge strings for stabilizing tuning, at least that was my experience.

i like the 9s more. just cleaner sounding i think at least

you need thicker strings for lower tunings which is usually associated with heavier sounds

it just feels better for ur action, tuning, and overall playability than thinner strings. i used to play drop A on 9s with a 6 string floyde rose special and my world has been switch ever since i got mammoths

9s are good on most standard length guitars. But shorter guitars like jaguars, jazzmasters, etc need 11s

i play on 8s and i readjusted the neck to be as low as possible and intonated. it’s amazing to play on. the sustain is great. doesn’t lose tune even when i bend. the only mods on the guitar are a bone nut and cheap locking tuners. you can always add or subtract with an EQ pedal but you can’t change feel once the strings are on. i probably would’ve quit if i was using heavy strings. why make it difficult it’s not like im on stage for anyone to notice. i prefer the sound anyway im more into clean and bluegrass tones.

Thicker strings are better overall if you want to keep tune. If they’re too thin, they can buzz, have a dull sound, or not sound good. But I mean, guitar tone is a big factor with Metal too
