Today, while walking, pay attention to your center of mass. When you learn to move smoothly your center of mass above your base of support, you are in a great balance. As the center of mass moves toward the border of the base of support, things get shaky.
Learning to sense the area where your center of mass in standing is located helps to improve your body image - getting your body maps in your brain more accurate. That's very important for improving your movement, balance, and posture.
