****** About Living Traditions Homestead ******

Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.

We put out new videos every week! We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

Everyone needs a Kevin and Sarah near them. It's always SO much better to have extra helping hands.

I love seeing homesteads helping homesteads, building community. Awesome example of how we should share skills and knowledge.

Kevin and Sarah, the one thing I admire about you both is that you teach, demonstrate and encourage. Blessings

The next time you are at Home Depot or Lowe’s, go to the plumbing department and pickup a PVC pipe cutter. It will make cutting garden hose and tubing much easier.

Hey, Kevin, I have that same shirt! My wonderful husband bought it for me cuz he knows how much I love gardening. When I saw the title of this video, I thought, "in ground? I thought they were switching to raised beds?!?" It was so nice to watch you helping your friends and sharing your experiential knowledge with them. I love how generous the gardening and homesteading community is.

Broke my heart seeing the chickens huddled together under the coops trying to escape the sun ... would a few trees or even a pergola or two in that area be beneficial???That could be another video project!! Rich & Shelley, yall will learn sooo much from Kevin & Sarah, they are amazing teachers!!! Thank yall for sharing the video with us & looking forward for more to come.

This is an efficient way to garden. I’ve used my same cover for the past 5 years. To offset the ground cover heating the soil during our summers I add a layer of cardboard under the cover. I add 2 to 3 layers of cardboard under the walkways. This holds in the moisture, keeps the soil temperature more stable and stops weeds from popping through unused holes. When it is time to plant, wet the cardboard and poke through. At the end of the season I pull up the cover leaving the cardboard. Then I hit it repeatedly with our mower to shred for compost. Be sure to use clean, undyed, tape and staple free cardboard.

I loved this video. Loved that it was friend helping friend. Learning new things and just an overall show of support. The two couples came together to show their love for gardening and each other and I really enjoyed it. I wish you a very happy and healthy garden a2g. I hope it’s your best garden yet! ❤😊

Great video. Tips were great today. We are laying ground cover this weekend for our high tunnel area and our in ground garden. The tip about laying the fabric with wind direction is something that I never would have thought about. And putting staples in sparsely on the bottom cover that will have the overlap makes great sense. I'm so excited for this yr . Not contending with the weeds, grasses, and having the drip tape will definitely be a game changer. It's almost cheating😂
Peace and Love Neighbors ❤️

If you plan ahead a good rule is to put a silage tarp down 3 to 6 months before you put the weed fabric down. Put the tarp down and let it stay there for 1 month. Roll or fold it up and let the weeds and grass sprout then put it out again over the garden plot. Do this 3 to 6 times. Every time you do this you reduce the weed seed bank by 1/2. This will keep weeds from coming up through the holes in the weed fabric from where you plant and where you put the stables down.

I use a foil pan lid to make a template for burning my holes. Then I have my spacing and hole size even. This also protects the surrounding ground fabric. Good Luck!

Thank you for how to properly lay this system down.
The little tips such as knowing the wind blowing direction and burning the weed barrier ends to stop the ends from further unraveling are very useful to know.
