Isabella Hammad's debut The Parisian is also really good - it follows a young man who goes to study medicine in France and then find himself back home longing for his Parisian life. I had to parallel read it and the Bulgarian translation to present the book for a translation award. It's such a wonderfully written book that deals with language, so it was really interesting how the translator handled it.
