who was the original antitrust Target? Standard Oil! you know what Standard Oil is called today? Exxon-Mobil! sure, there are other smaller energy companies out there that came from the breakup but let's face it, Exxon Mobil is by far the largest and not all that different from what Standard Oil started out as.

Remember how the phone company was broken up? And now they're all getting back together again! It's not as if Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&t are worried about competition from each other. these days. They all pretty much have aligned their services and prices.

Remember how Microsoft was enjoined from forcing Internet explorer on people on Windows? How many times have you been nagged about using the Edge browser on your Windows system?

My prediction is that Google is going to Google no matter what the government enjoins them from doing. it's just the way American Business works.

The two legal cases presented side-by-side stand in unfortunate contrast in this show. Google's shown with objectivity, analysis, insight, and information; X's shown without much of anything other than ad hominem attacks and a sudden overuse of the word "weird." Vergecast suffers because you can't keep your politics buttoned up. Tighten the bolts a bit for the good of us all.
